Some facts about Taiwan

When I was little most of my toys were... "Made in Taiwan." At that time I had no clue of where it was, what was its history or how were the people from this small country...

Well, let me tell you.. Taiwan is awesome, its people are amazing, wonderful hosts, the food... what can I say.. the best... but more important, that country that manufactured all my toys when I was little has an amazing quality of life... and keeps growing and growing...

Taiwan is a new country, so everything is high-tech, technology is everything here, almost every car has GPS system with satellite TV. Taiwan also has a bullet train (shin kan sen) that goes from North to South and in order to prevent environmental destruction caused by illegal development the government has launched a satellite monitoring program of all the island.

Taiwan is already one of Asia's most advanced e-economies. Through its empahis on integration with the world economy, entreprenurial spirit, education and research, Taiwan is preparing to become the "Switzerland of Asia." Taiwan faces the many challenges of guiding development while also protecting the natural environment.



Some facts about Taiwan...
  • Taiwan's laptop producers are moving from operating under an OEM (original equipment manufacturing) mode to an ODM (original design manufacturing) mode and have begun to establish their own brands. Taiwan makes more than 80 percent of the world's laptops. (still manufacturing my toys.....)
  • Taiwan accounts for 27.8 perent of global IC chip production. Currently, research and development in this sector is focusing on creating chips of smaller sizes and more functions.
  • Taiwan's optoelectronic industry, which makes 16 percent of the world's optoelectronic products generates 32 billion USD each year in reveneus.
  • Taiwan is one of the world's leading nations in terms of ownership of high-tech products such as mobile phones and digital cameras.
